Saturday 25th August will be our Junior Regatta. Sailing will start around 11:00 with the first race/competion at 13:00.

All junior sailors are welcome to take part.

There will be a BBQ at the end of the sailing (tea time), with a prize giving and award ceremony.

A running order for the day will be available on the day.

Sailors can enter into races in the following categories:

  • 2 handed Optimist
  • Single handed Optimist
  • 2 handed Pico (main-sail and jib)
  • Single handed Pico (main sail only)
  • Sibling race (Pico or optimist, sailors must be siblings)

Plus an Inter-generation race, where a pair of sailors must comprise an adult and a child (under 14 years). Adults are anyone over 14 years.

These will be handicap races, any boat permitted, and will be split into two sections – one where the child helms and one where the child crews.

There will be spare adults waiting in the audition queue, hoping to get the call, so don’t be shy!

Races will have a 3/2/1 minute start sequence – if you have a waterproof watch with a stop watch that would be useful as iPhones don’t work too well in dinghies!

Please enter the race(s) that your sailors would like to take part in, in advance, either by replying on facebook, Yahoo or speaking to Imogen at sailing.

Sailors are welcome to enter more than one category.

We will also be looking out for willing volunteers to man the safety boats, act as race officers, duty officers and of course man the BBQ.

If this piques sailors desire to race, Sunday 26th is the Grassholme Cup – four races in the series all competed on the same day. Sailors are very welcome to come and try their hand against the regular club racers
