FAQs

What age range is this course for?

You will need to be confident in the water. Participants wear buoyancy aids whenever they are on the water.

What knowledge of sailing do I need to have to do this course?

None, just enthusiasm.

What is the duration of the course?

This course last two days, running from 9:00 - 17:00 each day.

What will I be able to do after completing the RYA Level 1?

You will be able to sail in light winds under supervision, and will be awarded a RYA Level 1 Start Sailing Certificate after successfully completing the course.

What's the fee, and what's included in the fee?

The RYA (our national governing body) only permits us to offer courses to members. If you are not already a member of the club, the course fee is therefore £180. This includes the cost of the course, one year's membership of the club, and access to all of the club boats for a year to allow you to continue sailing and practice your skills.

To book on the course you will first need to join the club, by using the Join Us button on the top right of the website, and then once that is complete return to this page to book on and pay the £30 course fee.

Want a taster first?

We understand starting a new sport and booking straight onto a course can be a daunting idea. We run a Discover Sailing Day each year where you can have a taster session, and individual tasters can be arranged on other dates - just get in contact using the Email Us button on the bar at the top of the website.

I'm having trouble signing-up - what do I do?

Don't worry we're only an email away. Seek help by going to the Email Us button on the bar at the top of the website.

The most common issue though is having not logged in before attempting to book.
