Sail Experience Day

No sailing experience is needed.

We aim to provide a relaxed, fun sail taster session where you can learn the basics of sailing.

Organisation of the day

We start around 10:30 and finish at 16:00.

The session is split into 5 parts, adjusted to suit the group and weather conditions.

Registration followed by an introduction to basic sailing and safety instructions

How to rig a sailing boat followed by a quick sail to test the water!

Short lunch break in club house (bring your own sandwiches – tea and coffee provided)

Go sailing in one of the single handed Pico dinghies or with an experienced club member in a double hander boat

Debrief with tea or coffee

At the end of the day you should be able to sail across the wind, turn the boat around and stop safely in light or moderate sailing conditions.

Kit and Clothing

Bring:

  • swimwear
  • towels
  • thermal layers
  • some old footwear (they will get wet)

and a change of clothes.

If you have a wetsuit or cagoule then bring them along but they are not essential.

The club will supply buoyancy aids and has a limited amount of sailing gear.

We will try to make sure you don’t get soaked but this cannot be guaranteed!
