RYA Sail Training
Our RYA training follows the RYA method and is delivered by the Club’s instructors. The dinghies used are Laser Picos and where appropriate Laser Bahias and GP14s. A safety boat will be on the lake at all times.
We are a RYA Recognised Training Centre so the course follows the RYA syllabus and method and appropriate publications.
The charge for the Level 2 course is £120.00 which includes publications and certificates.
Juniors under 16 will require that the parent/guardian must be present at the club during the course.
There is a discount of £10 for a parent and junior taking part in the same course.
Sail Experience Days
If you want a challenging introduction to sailing, we offer Dinghy Sailing Experience Days.
The experience day aims to provide a relaxed, fun sail taster session where you can learn the basics of sailing.
Dinghy Sailing Experience Days cost £35.00 per person.
F3 Sail Club
This is a new junior sail training club for 2017 that has come about as a result of interest from the vaious scout and youth clubs that we support.
Focus will be on fun and learning to sail in a small group under the guidance of our team of RYA instructors.
Sessions will take place on six consecutive Saturday afternoons in July and August and extra dates will be added if we need to cancel a session due to poor weather.
F3 club member numbers will be restricted and will be Free for all participants.
We expect most participants will be under 13 years old although 14-18 year olds will not be excluded. A parent or responsible adult must be in attendance when the sessions take place.
Registration will be on a first come first served basis so email firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to reserve a place.
Note that we anticipate that not all participants will be able to attend all sessions due to holidays and other reasons so don’t be put off if a 2-week holiday precludes them attending a couple of sessions.
A parent will need to register as a volunteer, which can be free or you can choose to become a full TDSWC volunteer member by paying a concessionary fee of 36.00.
TDSWC volunteer members will not be expected to do anything but are welcome to do so.
Rigging and packing away boats, boat launching, issuing and washing sail clothing, manning the kettle and a variety of other small tasks all need to be done, so any help is appreciated to make the sessions run smoothly.
