Training

RYA Sail Training

We are a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Recognised Training Centre and our RYA sailing courses follow the appropriate RYA syllabus, method and appropriate publications.

The course is intensive and is usually delivered over a single weekend by the Club’s instructors. The dinghies used are Laser Picos and where appropriate Laser Bahias and GP14s. A safety boat will be on the lake at all times.

Juniors under 16 will require that the parent/guardian must be present at the club during the course.

The charge for the Level 2 course is £120.00 which includes publications and certificates.

There is a discount of £10.00 for a parent and junior taking part in the same course.

Our F3 Club was introduced in 2017, and came about as a result of interest from the various scout and youth clubs that we support.

Focus is on fun and learning to sail in a small group under the guidance of our team of RYA instructors.

Sessions take place on six consecutive Saturday mornings in July and August and culminates in a Junior Regatta Day where the emphasis is on fun.

F3 participants are restricted to childen aged 7 to 11 years that have not attended a previous F3 Club and are free, although we do ask for at least one parent registers as a Volunteer Member at a cost of £36.00 per annum.

TDSWC volunteer members will not be expected to do anything but are welcome to do so.

Rigging and packing away boats, boat launching, issuing and washing sail clothing, manning the kettle and a variety of other small tasks all need to be done, so any help is appreciated to make the sessions run smoothly.

TDSWC Junior Sail Club

Our Junior Sail club is aimed at our young sailors who have achieved a basic standard of sailing.

The aim is to develop sailing skills and, for those interested, to participate in some racing. Our 2017 F3 Club intake started attending regattas in 2018 and 2019 will be the first full season where several juniors will be competing against the best young sailors in the region.
