Teesdale Sailors Win Nationals

Two youngsters from Teesdale Sailing Club won the Argo class trophy at the National Junior 12 Hour Race at Southport Sailing Club last weekend.

They made up a team with three boys from Loughborough and managed to complete more laps of the Marine Lake course than any other of the teams made up of Combined Cadet Force cadets from as far away as Sandbach, Newcastle under Lyme and Exeter.

They also beat a number of other teams sailing GP14s and Enterprises.

The idea, as the name suggests, is to race a dinghy for 12 hours (8am to 8pm) using pit stops and crew changes, so it is very much an endurance event with all manner of incidents contributing to the fun.

Our successful sailors were Alexander Carr (left) and Jonathan Anstee. Alexander is the second member of the Carr family to win the trophy as his elder brother, Edward , was in the winning teams in 2014 and 2015.
