Grassholme Cup 2024
The Teesdale Sailing and Watersports Club's Grassholme Cup and Summer BBQ was a vibrant celebration of camaraderie and competition over 2 days. Day one saw sailors battling fierce winds, with gusts nearing force 4/5, turning the racing into a thrilling spectacle of skill and resilience. Unfortunately, day two's conditions proved too gusty, leading to the races being abandoned. Nonetheless, spirits remained high as everyone gathered for the

Club sailing 14/08/24
A great evening for a sail. The wind got up around three after a very calm start. When the sailors were ready to hit the water it was a good F@-3 from the south west, coming straight down the lake. Ava showed great spirit and no little skill to successfully try her first gybes. She stayed upright in tricky conditions for learning a new technique - well done Ava. James O'C also showed

Juniors Sailing Course - 22nd/23rd June
The Juniors sailing course took place this last weekend over 2 beautiful summer days. The first day was quite breezy and challenging, but still a beautiful sunny day. Day 2 was equally as summery, and the wind was much more favourable for the novice juniors. There were 10 eager young students who took to the water, and by the afternoon of the first day, they were whizzing about on the water with some

Club Regatta 2024
Today saw members competing for the Regatta Trophy. It was a very challenging wind; gusty and shifty but it provided entertaining racing. There was always the chance of catching a shift and clawing back lost ground whilst the leading boats came to a standstill. Some of the pictures below show the gusts and shifts well.

We had more visitors than last year and with the website up and running again have converted a number of them in to new members. A big thank you to all the volunteers who made it happen If you missed the chance to get on the

Club Sailing 07/04/24
Wild winds at Grassholme today encouraged everyone to stay ashore, although James A, our round the world sailor, evidently thought it was nothing compared to an ocean crossing and was itching to get out there with a reef in. The safety boat crew had already started shore based jobs so that was an end to that. Chris B was concerned that Storm Kathrine might destroy his roof repairs and bravely scaled a ladder to

Club Sailing 31/03/24
Yesterday was a great day to start the 2024 season. A fresh easterly F2 gusting F4 gave us some interesting sailing conditions; enough to satisfy the old hands whilst allowing some first timers onto the water. Everyone came ashore wanting more. James H baptised his new Supernova, and the kayaks and SUPs also hit the water. Thanks to James A, Sam M and Andrew H for doing the duties.
