Buddy Boating

1112453 orig

The club is open for members to use the water at anytime during daylight hours from 1st April - 31st October. However, the safety boat is only manned on Sundays and some limited times on Saturdays and Wednesdays during the warmer months. But if the safety boat is not operating members may use the water under the 'Buddy Boating' rules;

  • Sign up on the members portal on the website.
  • There must be two craft, that can provide assistance to each other, on the water.
  • There must be an adult in each of the craft. A junior is not considered capable of rescuing an adult.
  • People are more important than equipment. In an emergency look after the crew and leave the boats/boards.
  • Stay close to others and close to the slipway.
  • Consider your competence. Can you rescue another person? That means get them aboard and get them ashore.
  • Only use the water in light to moderate winds.
  • If in doubt don't go out.
  • Use a masthead float.
  • Don't forget to lock up at the end. A clubhouse key is available.

See the Buddy Boating Rules & Guidelines for more details.
